“Nobody ever used their tax dollars to help me!” says local man who drives on roads, gets his trash collected, has clean water, sends his kids to school, utilizes the police and fire departments, walks his dog in the park, receives mail, and also possess no sense of self reflection.
i cant believe the biggest hurdle straight cis white men face in their lives is having to think before they speak bc other people might call them “insensitive” and theyre so upset abt this that they write long thinkpieces in respected national magazines about it
The other night husband and I were watching a documentary about the yeti where they were doing DNA analysis of samples of supposed yeti fur, and every one of them came back as bears.
Anyway, the next night we watched a thing about some pig man who is supposed to live in Vermont. People said it had claws and a pig nose but walked upright like a man. Now, I happen to know that sideshows used to shave bears and present them as pig men. So every piece of evidence they gave of this monster sounds to me like a bear with mange.
So now the running joke in our house is that everything is bears. Aliens? Bears. Loch Ness monster? Bear. Every cryptozoological mystery is just a very crafty bear.
Bears. They’re everywhere. Be wary. Anyone or anything could be a bear.
feminism never taught me to hate men but it did help me realize that i shouldn’t prioritize them over women & it turns out that alot of men consider that to be hatred lmao.
honestly the trend of teenagers/young adults getting really obsessed with children’s media and harassing the writers/actors over plotlines and characters in the show is really,, creepy. Like there is nothing wrong with enjoying things meant for children but you really need to remember that you are not the target audience and the writers are not going to be catering to you. Obsessing over ships and stuff for children’s shows and harassing the writers to demand they make ur ship canon is just fucking weird. These shows are for young children, not you. Stay in your lane
I’m not the biggest Harry Potter fan but I have to give them credit for one thing, when time came for the movies they hired real life 11 year olds and stuck with them, there was no hiring older teenagers or 20 somethings to play kids, nope, they were kids.
Imagine other films had done that, like Percy Jackson for example, in the first book he’s 12 years old, but in the movie he’s played by Logan Lerman (who was 18 at the time)
um here’s a what a 12 year old Percy would have really looked like
can we stop casting 20 and 30 year olds to play teenagers and 18 year olds to play middle schoolers? (both Annebeth and Glover were played by people in their 20s) kids deserve heroes as much (and maybe more) than any one, heroes who you know, look like them.
Because popular media affects reality, it can have measurable influence on public feelings and perception, and in some ways can affect you on a deeper and more visceral level than any straight-forward lesson can.
So if you don’t think that the movie Split can cause serious stigma and harm towards people with psychotic mental illnesses - though particularly Schizophrenia and DID - through turning public perception against them, and portraying them as dangerous monsters, then you haven’t been paying attention.
Don’t give your money to this dangerous, misinformed garbage.
My favourite Barry Kramer moment is when Arin and Jon are playing Sonic 06 and Jon starts being the terrible human he is and saying the N-word. Arin, clearly nervous as he tries to keep the conversation going doesn’t say anything, but Barry’s fucking response via captions show just how fed up he is with Jon.
I also find these images to be great when responding to all the shitty fucking things Jon says on his Twitter:
I’ve been heckin’ itching to make some digital art, but my tablet is lagging and looking worse for the wear. I get paid soon, but stilllllll….. worst timing is worst. TT_TT
But I still fucking love the fighting chicken. Hoenn, in my opinion, has the most impressive set of starters of any region. I cannot pick a definitive favorite starter from Hoenn because they are all fantastic. Usually, I at least feel neutral about one of the starters, but all three are home runs.
Blaziken will sadly always be known as the motherfucker that started the fire/fighting train, but it’s not its fault that everyone copied it.
I don’t know if it’s still a competitive beast, but putting speed boost on that chicken was deadly.
Go forth, lovelies, and enjoy A+ content made by A+ creators.
Jontron is still better, and he ain’t a bigot. Prove to me that he is a bigot.
I won’t particularly try to persuade you, honestly. Here’s a few sources that mostly catalog things he’s said; for me and many others, his statements/views are troubling and problematic.
Again, you’re free to consume whatever content you find enjoyable, but these are the reasons people are rightfully dropping his content and seeking less problematic alternatives.
Caught a shiny Espeon! Decided to put it in PokePelago before I remembered to take a pic… oops. Was shooting for an Eevee, but I’ll take it lmao. 412 encounters… not bad.
A few years ago, I came out to my mom the morning after my senior prom. She was surprised, then quiet, then asked what my real orientation was. I said, “I have no idea, but I like this one girl.” She was a little confused, but she kissed me and said, “As long as she makes you happy.” For the next few weeks, she asked a lot of questions: when did I realize? What was my new girlfriend’s orientation? What was the word for this or that? I WAS happy, right?
Fast forward about two years. My mom sits me down and tells me that she needs my help with her next book. She’s been writing middle-grade girls’ books (like, 9-14 range) since I was eight, and she says she has an idea that she really, really wants to get right. It follows the plot of Romeo and Juliet, she says, and the main character is a twelve-year-old girl realizing she has a crush on another girl when they put on the play for English class.
Fast forward another year to now. STAR-CROSSED is about to come out, and it is absolutely amazing.
My mom has poured her heart and soul into making sure this is a positive thing for kids to read.
I’ve been reading and editing and helping with this book since its first draft and I’ve been, metaphorically and sometimes literally bouncing up and down on my heels, waiting to be able to tell people about it. It’s beyond sweet, and there’s a ton of Shakespeare and humor and goofy preteen drama and twelve-year-old girls flirting and Star Wars jokes and a glossary of Shakespearean insults in the back (yes, really), and it’s just so fun and positive and smart and I want to show it to every kid I know.
This book is for LGBT kids, written by a mom who has asked questions and done her research and tried as hard as she possibly could to make her own queer kid feel safe and loved and valid, and it REALLY shows. Mattie (the cutie on the left) and Gemma (the cutie on the right) are given space to learn about themselves, and ultimately they don’t have to figure themselves out right away or come out to everyone at once or choose a label. They’re kids. It’s okay to still be figuring things out. It’s okay.
Fun facts:
My mom said from the beginning she wanted both girls on the cover to make it clear what the book was about; then when they got the final artwork and Mattie’s hair was short, my mom wrote back and asked the artist to do the hair over to make it as obvious as possible that Mattie is a girl.
When a few people started buzzing about Mattie being the youngest bisexual protagonist they’ve seen, she went back and changed passages to confirm that Mattie likes boys and girls.
When I asked for a happier and less ambiguous ending scene, she set Mattie and Gemma up on a frigging date.
It comes out on March 14, 2017. Please join me in GETTING HYPE FOR STAR-CROSSED <3
Hey so I’m going to say a thing and it might ruffle some feathers.
If you have a disabled partner, you’re not an evil, horrible person for feeling strained/stressed because of their disability. As a person with disabilities, I can say that I’m constantly strained/stressed with myself. I am constantly sick and tired of being sick and tired, and I KNOW it’s an inconvenience in many ways. I know that it disrupts the societal norm of what a relationship should be and how a relationship should function. I know, and I understand.
That being said, the problem comes with how you respond to those feelings. The problem is when someone takes those feelings and then goes on to blame their partner, make them feel like it’s their fault they’re disabled, make their partner feel as though it’s harder for them than the actual person with the disability. The problem is when those feelings turn into bitterness, resentment, and so forth.
Be mindful and catch those feelings when they crop up so that they don’t fester; that’s the part you get a choice with.
“…I still want to see video game reviews like the ones he does!”
-PeanutButterGamer: Follows a very similar style of game review to Jontron, but with minimal sketches, and focuses a bit more on the game itself rather than his own comedy. Less cut away gags, though the sketches that he does do are always entertaining enough to actually justify a cut away gag, something that Jontron surprisingly still has yet to perfect. His content is clean, like most of the Youtubers on this list, but clean in a sort of Tumblr level of obscure that gets a good laugh without offending anyone. To quote his Tumblr: “
I’m all for not offending people. I mean, I actively attempt to be as inoffensive as possible on videos and on social media, “. He also recently voiced his distaste for what Jon has been saying lately, a bold move, considering they work for the same company.
-BrutalMoose: Brutalmoose does both video game and TV show/movie reviews the same way Jon does, and unlike PBG, he does have a few videos with a bit more mature content in them, like his reviews of “adult” games. While he does play “mature” games from time to time, and the content/comedy of those games can be offensive, his own comedy is still clean, but on the borderline of dirty. The kind you’d see on the likes of the Simpsons. Jokes that are adult, but still don’t hurt anyone. (Also…Tumblr is kind of obsessed with the fact that he’s gay? Don’t go overboard with that info, kids.)
-SpaceHamster: If you were a fan of JonTron’s knockoff game videos, you’re gonna love SpaceHamster! He’s done multiple knockoff and rom hack compilation videos, and his humor is up there with PBG. Heck, PBG and him even game together on PBG’s side channel!
“…I still want to see movie reviews like the ones he does!”
-Nostalgia Critic: If you’re looking for completely inoffensive comedy, then Nostalgia Critic probably isn’t the first place you’re gonna want to go, but hear me out. Nostalgia Critic’s offensive content differs from JonTron’s in that not only is he self aware of what is and isn’t acceptable in comedy, he’s willing to apologize when a joke goes too far and learn from his mistakes, instead of attacking his own critics. He’s made videos discussing “the line” in comedy, does countless charity shoutouts, and started the “Where’s The Fair Use” movement, a movement created in hopes of holding YouTube accountable for taking down videos that fall under Fair Use laws. He’s a genuinely decent guy!
-CinemaSins: I feel like CinemaSins is popular enough that I hardly even need to signal boost them, but their content also falls under that “adult but harmless” category. Not only that, but they’re not afraid to call out movies like 50 Shades of Gray for being ungodly shitty.
“…I still want to see sketch comedy like the sketch comedy he does!”
-JacksFilms: Remember that guy? The Your Grammar Sucks guy? You might also know him as “the guy who made parody videos calling out both Leafy and Keemstar for being shitty uncreative people” or “the guy who has videos featuring fans art and complimenting them”. Another genuinely decent human being.
I am very disappointed and upset to find out that a content creator I once respected has turned out to be bigoted and toxic- in terms of him being jewish, it isn’t unheard of for someone to be prejudiced against their own group of people. Although not equivalent, we see it happen in an analogous manner with feminism time and time again. I’m hoping everyone is able to find some new content to watch so they don’t support Jon.
Hey, just out of curiosity, but… where are #AllLivesMatter folks now that a Muslim Ban is posing a threat to, you know, all lives??? Are y’all gonna live up to ALL Lives Matter, or was that just a nice little slogan you came up with to silence oppressed minorities? Asking for a friend.
hey im pretty sure chadtronic makes fun of sammy classic sonic fan so uh tread lightly with recommending him
Damn– haven’t heard that before! Thanks for letting me know; it’s really hard to find content creators that aren’t problematic. I mean, EVERYONE will have said/done problematic things, though it’s still hard to find people who don’t make it a trend of theirs, you know?
