Me (and other fans): Adorable inspirational things are nice but it’s also important to have shows that are gritty and edgy and filled with drama.
Lion 3: Straight To Video: *Shows Steven beaming with tears in his eyes as he comes to terms with the fact that his mother wanted him to have the must fulfilling life he could in a world that she thought was nothing less than amazing*
Lion 4: Alternate Ending: *Has almost the same exact shot-for-shot remake of the scene above, only with an uncomfortable orchestration as Steven is clearly disgusted at the fact that the only thing he’s meant to do is have a fulfilling life in a world his mother thought was nothing less than amazing*
Me: Okay, now, wait a minute…

Seriously, I hate this so much. I’m all for character development and grey moralities and characters having to come to terms with who they are and who they’re meant to be but you cannot sacrifice the inspirational emotional scenes to do this and Steven Universe is deliberately ruining previous messages/scenes so that they can shove drama down our throats and it’s getting to be extremely annoying, even anxiety-inducing, because it makes it seem like they didn’t really care about those inspirational moments at all or the messages that come with them!
man every time i hear someone say “why isn’t there more of [x fandom content] and so much of [something else]” i’m just
because fanfic authors and fanartists are not paid for the content they produce in their free time and they’re going to write/draw what they want
and are you really going to complain about kickass, incredible content that you are receiving, free of charge, instead of taking matters into your own hands and producing the kind of content you want to see, too? like they are?
i’m tired
I think we obviously always need to look at reasons why some media or pairings don’t have the following of others, because the reasons aren’t always just about people not creating content they want to see (we sometimes do need to examine the patterns in why people like and support certain things and not others.)
But I wanted to reblog this to say that even if you aren’t a creator or someone who can support someone on Patreon or buy commissions, you can still help fill content voids by helping to organize things like Big Bangs and theme weeks and prompt blogs. And if you can’t do that, making sure to reblog things you like and leave comments or kudos can have a big impact on whether creators are encouraged to continue.
Props to DoorDash, tbh. I ordered Red Robin from them last night and the fries were heckin’ soggy and cold, so I kindly sent feedback explaining that was disappointing. The customer service dude was quick to get back to me and gave me a $10 credit to compensate; I wasn’t expecting that but it meant a lot. I ended up using the credit to order more food from Red Robin //got a salad though instead of fries to avoid the issue altogether// and basically DoorDash is really good 10/10. Customer service is a shitty industry to work in, so Luis from DoorDash gets all my respect for being proactive and understanding.

nsfw doesn’t mean “sexual” it means “not safe for work” meaning “It can get you in trouble if it comes up on your screen at work”
so stop trying to make a political statement by not listing nudity as nsfw, which it is, and actually be considerate for people who don’t want to get fucking fired because their boss sees them scrolling past nude images on their screen.
