*clears throat*

Funny story, actually. Matt ((Fuzzy)) is my cousin, so we always knew each other growing up. Though we were closer than any of our other cousins, we weren’t really friends until I was 10.

It began when we took dance lessons from the same studio; we were never in the same class, but one year her lesson was the one after mine. Well, I left my beanie baby zebra at the studio one day, and they saw it. Recognizing it was mine, they took it home and said next time I came over for a holiday or we saw each other, they’d give it back.

A couple weeks later, my aunt took us as well as two of my other cousins to see Charlotte’s Web, and we dropped Fuzzy off before getting to my house, so I was able to stop in and get my zebra. ((Side note: I’m able to remember how long we’ve been friends because we saw it in February when it came out, so I just look and see what year in February that Charlotte’s Web was in theaters!))

When I went inside, I saw a pile of comic books on their desk, and asked what it was. It was Marmalade Boy– and they explained how it was manga, but that went over my head the time. Ultimately, I ended up borrowing the first five volumes of Marmalade Boy from Matt.

This lead to me becoming obsessed with anime/manga, and it gave Matt a reason to come over since I was borrowing books and stuff from them. It just kind of snowballed from there, and within a year we thick as thieves. We just sort of clicked right away, even though the two of us have extremely different personalities.

It’s still interesting to think about how our relationship actually works, since we are so fundamentally different, and even our taste in anime and manga has drifted a lot. We don’t see each other as much in person anymore because we’re so busy, but when we do it’s very important and special time for me. I’m actually seeing them this weekend since the term just ended for me and they don’t work on Monday! >u<

So yeah, me and Matt are coming up on 8 years of being the coolest cats ever.
