Hey so if you like macabre romance manga then have I got the thing for you:
After School Nightmare
The protagonist is intersex, and they had been content with identifying as male all their life until the start of the manga, when they start to menstruate for the first time. I’m not too far in yet, but it’s great. The central conflict is the gender confusion of the protagonist, which is really fresh and interesting given that the closest manga usually comes to that is a girl dressing as a dude but is most certainly a cisgender female ((Ouran, Hana-Kimi, Girl Got Game, etc.)). Also, there’s a horror-fantasy aspect to it as well that’s hard to explain but you catch on pretty quick to the mechanics when reading it. I’m excited because with all the characters the theme seems to be how to deal with trauma and either cope or move on or what to do in general and I love it.
All in all, it’s really great and I just bought the rest of the series because I can’t wait to read more.
Because it’s a horror manga to some extent, there are the following TWs so far: blood, gore, body horror, rape ((they don’t show anything but it’s a part of one character’s past)), gender dysphoria, sexual assault ((one character forces the protag into a kiss as with most shoujo manga))…. and basically stuff of the aforementioned nature.
For the most part the potential triggers don’t bother me, and I implore you to read it if it’s something that you think you would enjoy.
<<PLUS SERIOUSLY AN INTERSEX PROTAG MAKES ME HAPPY>>
