Dramatic music played, as if a movie trailer had begun.
“Four houses… all alike in dignity….” a deep voice announced, setting a grave and gripping tone to the scene. A regal building appeared on screen, shadowed by the setting sun in the background of the shot.
“Dignity?” a higher-pitched voice suddenly interrupted. The camera panned slightly to the side, showing none other than the infamous chris McLean. “Not for long!”
The composition of the setting broke as suddenly shots of past seasons flashed on screen. Competitors bitterly fighting in various challenges took up the next several seconds of the trailer. From Camp Wawanakwa to the Total Drama City, the clips played in succession, rapidly flashing across the screen in such a fashion that was painful to look at.
“You think you’ve seen it all from us. We’ve been stranded on an island, we’ve been around the globe, but nothing could’ve prepared any of us for what’s coming next.” Chris narrated, smirking with his usual malice that could only mean somebody was going to get seriously injured.
“More terrifying and dangerous than anything we’ve put the youth of this world through, we have a challenge so horrific and controversial that my legal team is STILL trying to make sure we can air this.” Chris built up the gravity of the situation, rubbing his palms together malevolently.
“This season, we’re taking a handful of naive and unwitting teens and putting them in a place more horrifying than the depths of hell itself- we’re putting them back in high school.”
And orchestra hit accentuated the horror, before cutting to the shot of the building from the beginning of the ad. In the background, lightning struck a camera man.
“Welcome to Total Drama High School, the elite academy that only the most daring, out-of-their-mind teens would dare enroll in. Though… you can’t blame them. After all, the student that makes it to the top of the class will get a most lucrative prize.” Chris grinned from ear to ear. “That is, one million dollars!”
“You’ll see danger, betrayal, romance, and of course, DRAMA like never before— all before the lunch bell! So tune in this spring and see who flunks out and who passes with flying colors— right here, on Total Drama High School!” Chris made exaggerated gestures as he spoke, and after giving his parting line, the camera zoomed out.
