The gems are genderless but jasper is referred to as she/her in the episode where is the truth
doesn’t every gem get referred to as she/her though?
I don’t recall but if that’s the case that’s really shitty inconstancy with what sugar stated
theyre all referred to with she/her pronouns consistently throughout the series
they are also all canonically nonbinary
idk i think its fair to assume they just like going by she/her pronouns
Some NB people use he/him or she/her pronouns.
Yes it’s not blatant representation, but notice how the Gems are always referred to as a gems and not as women by those who know them.
And when people refer to them with gendered language they seem confused or not get the gender implications.
(like mayor Dewey calling the Crystal Gems Steven’s sisters and him being confused,
Or how Garnet Garnet refers to herself as “mom universe” like mom is a title rather than an indication of a parents gender)
Not to mention the gems are aliens so why the hell would they have the same gender concept that humans do?
ok this is good I’m so glad i found a discussion on it, but okay listen, can they really be NB if they’re not organic? doesnt being NB mean you still have to have some kind of human gender and are the gems not totally free of gender being that they’re true physical forms are stones? just curious as to what other people think about this, (i am done with the idea of the gems being female totally and completely.)
