REASONS TO PLAY HIGH SCHOOL STORY:
- All the characters except for plot-relevant ones you can customize their face, hair, skin, and outfit (high school AUs anyone?)
- Of all the plot relevant characters the large majority of them are POC
- The characters themselves, despite being based on typical ‘cliques’ like jock or nerd, have a lot of personality and heart to them
- If you’re in high school, there’s a function where you can practice for ACT and SAT and you get in-game rewards for doing so
- The game’s makers have partnered up with both Cybersmile, a group focused on cyberbullying, and the National Eating Disorders Association, focused on eating disorders; they brought awareness to both groups through gameplay quests and certain purchasable in-game items
- There’s an in-game dating function where you can have two characters date, and the dates are not restricted by gender
- An in-game poll acknowledged non-binary people (they have yet to offer the option for characters to be non-binary in game, but it’s a step)
