And yet, when women withhold sex FOR LITERALLY ANY REASON, men piss and moan about how terrible and selfish and manipulative we are and how sex shouldn’t be used as a weapon. Check yourselves, assholes!
what they’re REALLY threatening to withhold is their approval. because men don’t just feel entitled to determine a woman’s attractiveness AND devalue us if we don’t meet their standards- they honestly think that it’s what we fucking live for.
seriously, think of how many guys cannot get it through their heads that women don’t wear makeup for men (“why do women wear so much makeup when we like a natural look?”), or men who can’t understand why street harassment is not a compliment.
they’re so unused to the idea of women being people with independent thoughts and subjectivity that they literally think we exist to be judged by them, to please them. they think every single thing we do is for them; the idea of a woman not caring that any man finds her unattractive is completely out of their grasp. a good number of them don’t even think it’s possible, and that if a man tells a woman she looks bad she must care, and if she says she doesn’t she’s lying.
so when guys say things like this, it’s not about our legs at all. it’s about them exercising the power they assume they have over us. it’s about power, period.

Though, at least in the case of make-up, I believe some of that comes from how women are presented in media and advertising. Men think they like the “natural look” but they have now idea that even skin, long, dark lashes, glowing cheeks, and dewy lips aren’t natural. They come from long practice of using just the right amount of make-up to look like you’re not wearing any at all. Not that they care. When we do go au natural, they complain about how much we’ve let ourselves go. Because whether or not they realize they like make-up, they do always expect us to perform for them and you’re right in that most men literally cannot understand that we do not care or that there might be anything more important to us than how we look for them.^^^ more truth.
