Jack’s Tips for Pleasant RP
Nothing takes me out of the mood of an RP more than poor technique. So here’s a short guide to writing fantastic RP posts and being the talk of the town!
-Write in complete sentences.
-Write in third-person, novel style.
-Do NOT use asterisks to denote actions. This goes with the above tip.
-Always use quotation marks when someone is talking.
-Don’t give one sentence replies. That’s like texting someone “k”. It kills the momentum of the conversation.
-Don’t only reply in words. Give an action, even if it’s a subtle motion like someone blushing or showing a certain facial expression. A good RP cannot run on words alone.
-Do not write it like it were a script.
-Check your posts for grammar and spelling.
YES:
Sophia smiled sweetly at her boyfriend, gazing into his chocolate brown eyes. “I’m so glad we met, Ryan. I just… I feel like I’m learning how to trust again.”
She felt her heart racing as if it were about to leap out of her chest. Even though they were dating, she couldn’t help but still feel nervous saying such sweet nothings to him.
NO:
Sophia: *smiles sweetly at Ryan* I’m so glad we met. I just I feel like I’m learning how to trust again. *heart races*
