Anyone who seriously thinks men cannot be raped or abused needs to slap their own face and feel shame for having such a shitty opinion. This is also a problem that involves intersectionality; rape is a larger threat to gay men, trans men, and especially disabled men, more so than to able-bodied cishet men. Not to say that that that survivors with privilege are not important, but it is an important fact to keep in mind nonetheless.
Rape tends to extremely disproportionately target women, so naturally the discussions on rape culture tend to focus on male rapists and female targets. There should be more genuine discussions of male survivors, but they need to not be happening just to attack feminism. As it stands, the vast majority of the time Wario hears about how men can be raped, it’s either as response to some talking about how rape affects women (never ever do this, it’s derailing and shitty), or it’s reduced to a disingenuous MRA talking point.
Wario has said this many times before, but MRAs need to realize the unique situation of male survivors is a result of patriarchy and the attitudes of other men regarding rape, and not the fault of feminism. One of feminism’s ideal goals is to improve attitudes regarding rape, and this helps male survivors too.
