  3. xenaisnumber1 said: They gave Ant-Man his own movie even though he had no screen time at all so it’s obvious that they don’t have confidence that Black Widow will have a successful movie. It wasn’t until Wonder Woman did they announce that they were going to have a female superhero movie. And it isn’t Black Widow that getting a movie, it’s Captain Marvel, a superhero that’s similar in strength to Wonder Woman so it’s obvious that they are just trying to one up DC.

Wonder Woman was the first successful solo female superhero film for them. One of those movies featured a black woman. They even had a Birds of Prey series that had mostly female leads. Marvel may have had success with Black Widow but not enough to give her her own movie.
