PERSONA DANCING ALL OVER MY SOUL
"I generally just tumble around."

Bassline Tiddly Bit? Sure.

Whaaaaaat here’s a thing that takes place like a month after Total Drama City.

Bastien paced about the living room, for once in his life looking visibly anxious and unsettled. He nervously fiddled with the cuffs of his suit sleeves, biting his lower lip just slightly.

As he made circles around the room, Caroline tumbled into the room with the grace of a manatee, sending a lanyard littered with keys flying. The keys hit Bastien’s trembling hands and caused him to flinch, nearly falling back in shock.

Caroline laughed awkwardly, snatching the keys from the ground.

“Hey, sorry about that. Ready to get going?”

Bastien looked to her and nodded, giving a forced smile.

“But of course, my dear. I presume you’re driving?”

Caroline grinned proudly.

“May as well put this to good use!” she said, holding up her newly issued driver’s license.

She then pocketed the license and her expression softened. She gently reached out, brushing her fingertips against Bastien’s arm.

“But seriously, I don’t think you’re really fit to drive right now… but there’s nothing wrong with that.” she assured him.

“Yes… er, of course.” he murmured quietly, and they headed out to the car.

Caroline then began driving, her eyes fixated on the road. She drove in silence for a few minutes before speaking up again.

“D'you want me to go in with you? I mean, if you want. Not to force the idea. I guess, I mean, what do you want?” she asked, trying to be consoling.

“I don’t know… perhaps you could humor me and stay in the lobby in case I need you?” he suggested meekly.

Caroline nodded.

“Of course! I want to do whatever I can for you, babe.” she said, her voice turning sweet as she gave a sideways glance at him.

After a minute of silence, Bastien looked to Caroline.

“…thanks.” he whispered.

Caroline reached over and squeezed Bastien’s hand while keeping the other on the wheel.

“I’m just glad you’re doing this. I can’t really figure how hard this is… but I’m so freakin’ proud of you for at least agreeing to try therapy. It takes a hell of a lot of courage and strength to try and face your problems, you know? I just… all I want is for you to be happy, and I think although it will be hard with remembering all these bad things… well, I think and I hope it’ll all work for a happy ending.” she said, stumbling over her words as she tried to explain her thoughts.

Bastien relaxed slightly, giving her hand a squeeze in return. He didn’t say anything at first, and instead closed his eyes. He was still very nervous, but at least with Caroline he was slightly sedated.

As they pulled into the parking lot of the clinic, Bastien opened his eyes and began to feel anxious again, his heart pounding ferociously. He took a deep breath, got out of the car, and turned to Caroline.

“I… I love you, Caroline. I really do.” he said, for no reason other than to just let her know as he always did.

“I love you too, Bastien. And I know you can do this.” Caroline assured him.

“How do you know, though?” Bastien asked, fiddling with a button on his jacket now.

“Because, silly, if you can’t do it, we can do it.”
