Don’t know how many peeps like me are out there, but I’m a Christian trans dude, and y'all know as well as me that being religious and trans can be super freaking complicated.

That being said, I’d like to share a song with you that I really resonate with as someone with a deviant sexuality/gender. I know I interpret it outside the original context, but taking the lyrics at face value and having my interpretation really gives me solace when I’m fretting about being both Christian and trans.

The song is “Welcome Home (You)” by Brian Littrell. It’s basically about how even when the rest of the world is against you, God knows you and is always super enthusiastic to see you when you come to Him.

Some choice lyrics that make my day every day (particularly nice for male identifying queer peeps since the song does say “son”):

“When I left home to be who I am
Some people said "No Way”
But I laid it all down, gave everything
In my head rang the words that my Father said

“You’re never far
I will be where you are
and when you come to me
I will open my arms

Welcome Home, you
I know you by name
How do you do?
I shine because of you today
So come and sit down
Tell me how you are
I know son, it’s good just to see your face.”“
