Pepper’s Day In – Part 4? IDK I lost track.

It’s been a week or so, hasn’t it? Whelp, let’s continue!

Pepper collapsed onto the couch, exhausted from his hurried cleaning. He had even worked up a sweat, considering this was his first form of exercise in days. He tugged at the loose fitting tank top he wore, groaning slightly.

“I really should shower before she gets here…” he grumbled to himself, though just as he had worked up the energy to peel himself from the couch, the doorbell rang.

“…..shit.” was the only word he could find himself able to say as he stumbled upwards and towards the door. He hurriedly ran his fingers through his greasy hair, desperate to make a last ditch effort and looking presentable.

Taking a deep breath, he opened the door.

Sure enough, the blue-haired lady was standing before him, clad in bright yellow athletic shorts and a tank top. It was ninety degrees out, so it was only appropriate that she dressed accordingly, and with her own sport flair as per usual. Her pastel blue hair was tamed back into a ponytail, with one loose strand framing the left side of her face. Her warm eyes flickered with emotion as she saw him for the first time in weeks, and for that moment, time stood still and both parties were speechless.

It was Lightning who eventually broke the silence, clearing her throat as she placed a hand on her hip.

“Uh, did I come at a bad time?” she asked, sounding slightly nervous. “I mean, I did call you a few hours ago and all…” she added hastily, subtly shifting the ball to his court.

“Huh? Oh, yeah. Didn’t think you’d come over so soon, I guess.” Pepper mumbled, then stepped back, motioning her to enter the apartment. “Come in.” he said simply, stiff and uneasy as he gazed upon her. He didn’t know how to act around her anymore. He couldn’t act how he did with anyone else, but he couldn’t go back to the way they were… he felt himself in a catch-22 as she entered his apartment, glancing around.

Pepper swallowed hard, having no idea what was to come.
