In no way does this want to make me reconsider. I’m sorry (actually I’m not) but if I get raped and get pregnant, I am NOT having that child. It would be unfair to them. I wouldn’t love it as I should. Not to mention the physical and mental anguish I would go through while being pregnant. It is my decision, not yours to make for me
Anyone else see the irony in this poster being named “0hanameansfam”?
I mean does no one see this?
i will never reconsider being pro-choice.
this woman was born. good for her.
do you know how rape affects a person?
people can fall into deep depression. some get severe post-traumatic stress disorder and everything that entails, including dissociation, depersonalisation, and flashbacks. some even kill themselves. it takes many, many, many years to recover from rape.
you know what can make that recovery worse? a wailing infant that needs your attention 24/7.
pro-choice is about being pro-choice, not pro-abortion. i don’t like abortion. i wish it didn’t have to happen. but if a rape victim (or any person) is not equipped - be it mentally, financially, physically - to care for a child, or if the pregnancy and labor puts the child-bearer in mortal danger - that person should not be forced to carry the child.
it is not fair to the child to force it into a family where the parent or parents are unable to give the child proper care. it is not fair to the parents to force them into a situation where they have to go through the anguish of giving the newborn up for adoption. it is not fair to a rape victim to have to carry the reminder of that hateful violence for up to nine months before they can begin to try and heal properly. it is not fair to force a deformed child do be born and die in agony over a period of 24 hours. it is not fair to force a mother to die of septic shock when she miscarries but is not allowed an “abortion” even though the fetus is already dead.
the pro-life movement is not about protecting “babies” (who are still just groups of cells by that point, and cannot feel pain). the pro-life movement is about trying to discourage women from sex by forcing them to carry an unwanted child as a punishment for having sex. the pro-life movement is about shaming rape victims by forcing them to carry an unwanted child as a punishment for being raped.
i will never, in my whole life, reconsider my stance as a pro-lifer. to be pro-life is to be anti-human rights.
