Also a Thing about DemiGods and Pots and Pans
So to my understanding, the difference between demisexual and pansexual lies in the conditions of attraction.
Demisexuals only feel sexual attraction after a strong bond has been built. For pretty much all other sexualities ((sans asexuals)) you can feel tingly over people you don’t know well ((see: every fangirl ever)). That’s how most people are, but demis do not experience sexual attraction that way. Pansexuals simply are attracted to people of all genders.
I’m not sure, but I think demisexuals often have different romantic orientations to clarify who they can become attracted to after a relationship is established? Like, some demis aren’t attracted to all gender so they could be a homoromantic demisexual or a polyromantic demisexual and so on.
I hope this makes sense, and if I have any demi or pan followers, feel free to chime in or correct me! <3
Close, but you’re struggling with romantic orientations.
Romantic orientations were something sort of started by ace people, but they fit for everyone. it just so happens most have the same romantic/sexual orientation (ie. straight people are often heterosexual and heteroromantic).
The idea of romantic orientation is who you are attracted to romantically. For instance I’m a Biromantic Demisexual. The demi art means I can only feel sexual attraction after a strong bond is formed (gender does not play into this). Biromantic means that I’m romantically attracted to two or more genders. For example, there are cute guys, girls, and nonbinary people on my dash all the time. I don’t feel the tingly sexual attraction, but I do feel a bog desire to do things like cuddle.
The reason all other sexualities sans asexuals feel that sexual attraction is because demisexuality IS a type of asexuality. Everything else not on the asexual spectrum is called allosexual.
Thank you for the clarification! ^u^ Yes, I should have explicitly stated that demisexuality is in fact on the ace spectrum! OuO Though since it doesn’t say much about the gender(s) they are attracted to, romantic oritentations as qualifiers. The same is true for many ace people, as ace people sometimes have romantic orientations differing from their sexual orientation, at least way more often than other sexualities.
So anywho, anyone reading this should take note of gem’s explanation because this is very good and from a demisexual person so there’s that. ^.^ Thank you for the answer!
