Adeline Beaumanoir

((Here’s a character I wrote when I was 15. A Froslass gijinka! I was actually hella proud at my creativity.))

On December 17th, 1994, James and Fleur Beaumanoir gave birth to their son, Jacques Beaumanoir, in Floaroma Town. The two parents could not have been any happier as they looked down at their baby boy. For the first few months of his life everything was normal. His mother nursed him and took care of him, and his parents loved him deeply. He was their pride and joy. They were a family with many high-class friends, all of which adored Jacques. That is, until one fateful day.

James and Fleur were attending a social gathering that was hosted by a close friend of theirs at the Old Chateau in Sinnoh. Jacques was only three months old, and as always Fleur proudly carried him around. Everything wend as it normally did, until suddenly Jacques starting acting weird. Then, it happened. He transformed. It was then that they discovered that Jaques was a Pokemorph, but that wasn’t the problem. The problem was that Jacques had turned into a Froslass. A Pokemon that was a female-only race. The entire room fell silent. How could this be? How could this boy be a Froslass Pokemorph? Embarrassed by this discovery, Fleur picked up Jacques and hastily left.

James and Fleur took Jacques to a doctor the next day, but no explanation was found. Fleur was a Froslass morph as well, but it had been considered impossible to pass the Froslass genetics to a male. After many tests were ran, a conclusion was found. What scientists already knew was that the Froslass Pokemorph gene was unable to attach to Y chromosomes, hence why a male could not be a Froslass Pokemorph, but what they didn’t know was that Jacques had Klinefelter Syndrome, and that he had an extra sex chromosome, making his genotype XXY. The Froslass gene had fused with the two X chromosomes as it would with a female, and had caused Jacques to become a Froslass Pokemorph.

Jacques’ parents were beyond shocked to find out that their son had such an abnormality. At first they told each other that it would be okay, that it would be fine. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t long before Jacques became the butt of everyone’s jokes. Everywhere James and Fleur went, they heard nothing but ridicule of their abnormal son. James and Fleur tries to put up with it, but after an entire year of this verbal abuse, they could not withstand it any longer. They packed their bags and left Floaroma Town. They ended up moving to Lilycove City, a whole new region and a whole new city. There they made a decision. They would disguise their son as a female and pretend he had been a she all along. From that moment on Jacques was Adeline, and his parents put on the charade that their son was their daughter. Nobody ever knew because Adeline had very feminine features, though James and Fleur were grief-stricken.

They felt awful that they were doing this to their son just so they could avoid humiliation, but they told themselves it was for the best. They didn’t want him to be ridiculed, and they explained this to him as he got older. In fear of going through the awful torment his parents described, Adeline continued keeping up with the charade of being a girl, with no intention of ever coming out with the truth. Soon, it became so natural that Adeline forgot he was ever a boy. He still knew very well who he really was, but he referred to himself as a she and acted just like a girl.

When Adeline turned 16, he heard about Pokemon training. He’d heard the concept before, but had never looked into it much. The more he heard, the more he wanted to become a trainer. After discussing it with his parents, they finally agreed to let him travel by himself. They both knew he would have to go off on his own sooner or later, although they were still worried for him.

After months of preparation, Adeline boarded a boat that was headed for Torrenta, a lesser known region that was very far from Hoenn. And with that, Adeline began yet another chapter of his her life.
