Happy Coming Out Day- I’m still extremely and blatantly queer! Props to all the lovely people coming out for the first time, and love to all the people who aren’t coming out because it’s not safe or they just don’t want to. You’re wonderful too, you know.
I’m sorry we live in a world where people can’t be themselves simply because some people believe their existence is more valuable than ours- that we’re the “other” because of who we love and how our gender is expressed. That they are so offended by something that affects them in no way whatsoever, something that they do not understand and not willing to learn, that they riot and hate and discriminate and murder- it’s heinous, it’s disgusting, and I can only pray that someday we’ll live in a society where people can be educated, and human rights can actually include ALL humans, not just the ones who think they’re socially acceptable.
My apologies for getting particularly preachy, I just think it’s a shame we need this day, and I admittedly hold an amount of disdain against the people who cause us to need this day, who cause us to need to come out. Though we still come out, and even though they look on in disgust and try to ruin us.
I am genderqueer, and I am polysexual. If those terms confuse or offend you, it is not my responsibility to pacify you. Educate yourself.
