PERSONA DANCING ALL OVER MY SOUL
"I generally just tumble around."

….I have to reset already. O-O

Grep chose Donphan, which has Horn Attack. I had Heracross with…. Tackle. Dammit.

TAKE 2!

Thank you, evil-alduin! I will pick Heracross- I rarely ((if not never)) use bug types, so this will be interesting! I have a name picked out for it already, but in the future I will asks for names that fit the theme: countries

First Person to Respond Picks my Starter! Heracross or Donphan?

//Ledian was the third choice but screw that.//

Jack Plays: Moemon FireRed Randomized Nuzlocke Intro & Rules

So after watching a couple videos of this ROM hack, I’ve decided I want to play it for myself. It’s been a long time since I have replayed FR/LG, so I’ll start with FireRed and maybe do Emerald if this works out to be fun.

I will tag everything as: “Fired up for Moemon” ((Get it…? Because… because it’s FIRE-Red…. sorry.)) so blacklist that tag if you do not wish to see these posts!

This is going to be a randomized Nuzlocke- I’ll explain that and more in this post. First, a few basic questions.

1. What is Moemon?

Moemon is a ROM hack of a Pokemon game ((there is a FireRed and Emerald version at this point)) that replaces all Pokemon sprites with… well, moe. It’s a bit of a creepy concept, but the designs really are cute- they’re moe girls dressed as the Pokemon. Yeah, kind of weird when you think about it, so let’s not think about it.

2. What is a Nuzlocke?

A Nuzlocke is a challenge where the player sets a list of self-imposed rules. The rules vary from person to person, but there are a few core rules that make is a true Nuzlocke. I’ll list the rules below.

3. What is a randomized run?

The ROM I’ll be playing has been patched so that every Pokemon in the game is random. The three starters are random, the wild Pokemon are random- everything is up to chance.

4. How will this be recorded/organized?

My current plan is to make collective posts after certain checkpoints. Either the end of a route, after completing a gym, etc. I’ll upload these updates with screenshots and my own commentary; all posts will be tagged and I will likely make a page on my blog where I will link each part.

Now, onto the rules.

Rules:

-Any Pokemon that faints is considered to be deceased. They must either be released, or stored in a PC box where they will not be used for the remainder of the playthrough ((I want to keep them for posterity so they will be in a PC box)).

-The player may only catch the first Pokemon they encounter on each route. If the wild Pokemon faints, the player does not get to capture anything on that route. The only exceptions are the Dupes Clause and Shiny Clause.

Dupes Clause: If your first encounter on a route is in the same evolutionary family as a Pokemon you have already caught, you may exclude that encounter and use the next wild encounter as your catch for the route. You may do this up to 5 times- on the 5th time, you must try and catch that Pokemon even if you already have it, or not have a catch for that route.

Shiny Clause: Although less important on a hack, in cartridge games if you run into a shiny Pokemon, you may catch it even if you have already caught a Pokemon on that route.

-All Pokemon MUST be nicknamed. For my playthrough, I’m going to name them all after countries ((blame America for everything)).

With all that out of the way, I’ll be making a blog page for this and starting shortly!
