Oh my God… but… what if…. what if…. WHAT IFFFFFFFF.
But wait you never see those markings again so there goes my theory.
Yeah, the markings vanishing at the same time as the bite marks does indicate that it just came from that. (Well, common sense indicates that too, but, you know.)
Still… it’s a picture of how Mike’s arm may have looked in the past.
I do hold the dreary-as-usual headcanon that cutting used to take place - either Mike used it to cope or Mal used it to punish - but it stopped long enough before Total Drama that no one there would have noticed. If Mike was doing it, he learned better coping skills; in Mal’s case, he stopped coming out long enough for the marks to fade.
I’m overthinking this one little design choice of how to portray a teenage boy who just got mauled by snapping turtles.
I would like to believe it’s indicative of how Mike used to cut (a headcanon I am 10000% on board with).
I actually never considered it being a form of punishment that Mal would use. Seeing it from that perspective is eye opening. It could be then inferred that even after Mal was defeated the first time, Mike grew to use it to punish himself, as he felt he deserved to be punished sometimes. I like to think that Mike also suffered depression due to his condition (depression has a nifty little habit of latching onto people with other mental disorders).
I honestly feel like Mike has the most likelihood and potential for a shockingly dark backstory.

I just have this headcanon that his bro Cory is all angsty and resentful towards Mike because their mom dotes on Mike due to his condition, and Cory feels like he’s ignored a lot or under-appreciated. He doesn’t get any attention from their father either since their dad is at work all the time, and Cory makes sure Mike doesn’t forget that it’s his fault dad is never home.
When Cory was little, he actually really liked Svetlana and got along with her because she was like the older sibling he wanted and would play sports with him, but he hates the other alters.
Totally meant to answer this privately but it’s here now. Welp.
Headcanon: Mike has a brother named Cory that is 1-2 years younger than him.

My Headcanons for Mike (and his alters):
-Svetlana gets really pissed when Vito leaves meat products in the fridge- meat in general (especially raw), makes her feel sick.
-Although all of Mike’s personalities want to gain control, Svetlana has more or less given up the idea of happily living out life in Mike’s body. She feels more trapped than the rest of them, being the only female in a male’s body.
-Mike used to self-harm.
-Of Mike’s alters, Svetlana is his favorite. She causes the least trouble, in his opinion, and is generally very friendly.
-Mike’s guilty pleasure is High School Musical. Also, when he heard the song “Scream” from the third movie, it instantly became the most listened to song on his iPod.
-One of his biggest fears is that people will like one of his alters more than him. He doesn’t acknowledge this fear much though because he more readily believes that everybody thinks he’s a freak because of his alters.
