I love how unique the designs for the gems are. Not only do we get varying color pallets, face shapes, and body types, but even the placement of the gem seems to correspond with their personality.
Garnet’s gems are on her hands, which seems to represent balance and power (her gauntlets testify to this as well) And Ruby and Sapphire’s gems being on one hand, could maybe represent imperfection/incompleteness
Amethyst’s gem is on her chest which to me represents her playful, lighthearted attitude. It also makes sense how she’s less about careful calculation and more about “feelin it”
And Pearl, her gem being on her forehead, is all about knowledge and perfection
The same can be said for Peridot, who tends to be uptight and cynical
Rose Quartz’s gem is on her bellybutton, which seems to represent motherhood and family. This makes sense, seing that she’s the only known gem (at least so far) to have a child, and had a strong sense of motherly love over the other gems. The same goes for Steven, him being like Gems’ little brother/son and is kind just like his mother
Jasper is very overbearing and brash. Her gem corresponds with her personality, being on her nose. Unlike others of her kind who’s gems are somewhat hidden, hers is right in the center of her face which could represent her bold and in-your-face nature
And Lapis’ gem is on her back, which to me seems to relate to her somewhat withdrawn and even self-decrepitating nature. (she is also kind of delicate, which is accentuated by her wings)
