PERSONA DANCING ALL OVER MY SOUL
"I generally just tumble around."

Regarding the anon comparing Jack and Ariale as role players, I don't think that was cool. They're both fantastic but I think everyone on here is a little nervous when it comes to their skills in role play, calling someone out on them only brings them down. Some people are beginners. and some are experts. Either way, they're all doing their best and I think they're all fantastic!

Agreed. We have people from all skill levels participating here, and although I would say I have a decent amount of experience, I know that Ariale comes from an RPG where extremely long posts were the normal, so her skills are more polished and greater, hence why she’s such a phenomenal role player. I try to keep a consistent caliber of responses, but especially with the stress and time consuming nature of my schooling and robotics program, I simply am not able to keep up to a level that I’m satisfied with. I suppose I’m more or less making excuses, but I just lack the experience or time to compare to Ariale. :) comparing role players is a little silly in my opinion due to the variety of circumstances we all come from. I hope that my unorganized RP skills aren’t too big of a turn off, though, because I absolutely love role playing with everyone.

Ranty Time: I honestly just can’t even the concept of people dating Mike’s alters. I guess to me that just seems really wrong? Not to hate on anyone, but it’d be like going to Mike and being like “Yo, I know you’re the actual personality and you struggle a lot with this crippling disorder, but I like that other personality of yours better so… yeah. Be them.”

Like how shitty would it feel to be Mike in that situation? Plus, how would a relationship even work like that if Mike is the actual personality?

I just.

Not trying to hate,

but this is a personal pet peeve of mine.

Fuck you OP. You’re a piece of shit. Adding an other option would be so easy. YOU CAN FUCKING PET A POKEMON NOW AND CHANGE YOUR HAIR AND CLOTHES AND WE CAN HAVE FUCKING KEY MONSTERS AND WE CAN HAVE INCLUSION!!! Fuck your binarist shit.

Did you really just play into the picture? You did exactly what the picture suggests “tumblr” does.

And? I’m not allowed to be frustrated cause my non-binary trans siblings are constantly ignored like they don’t exist?

You expect every game to give you options to be trans and such? You’re expecting a game to give you every possibility imaginable? Gamefreak finally gave you the ability to change clothes and your hair, one step at a time man. Even then, I don’t really see the problem.

Now hear me out, and I’m not saying that to be witty, what’s the problem with having the choice of being a boy or a girl? Regardless of what you identify with, you nevertheless are born as a gender. So there’s no problem with that. Now I haven’t played the new pokemon games, but can you cross dress like you can in Animal Crossing New leaf? Than that fills everything out.

To continue, I don’t expect a game that is marketed to children to include a “trans” option. I especially don’t expect a Japanese company to introduce that unless it’s a game that is sexual in nature. Then of course, there’s barely any trans people in comparison to people who are okay with their assigned gender. To bitch about everything in a video game I find is meaningless, there is no way of winning. If you don’t include a character creator in an RPG, people complain. If you don’t have every single tiny detail at your finger tips of character creation, tumblr complains. There’s no winning.

Furthermore, just because a game doesn’t offer the option, doesn’t mean people are being ignored. Seriously, I don’t know why you guys expect it in a kid’s game especially.

Let me tell you how dumb you are.

An “other” option complete with gender-neutral pronouns and an androgynous sprite would be easy as fuck.

Cross-dressing is not the same thing as identifying as a gender other than boy are girl. You’re so off the mark that you don’t even make sense.

There’s no reason why other gender identities shouldn’t be available in a children’s game. Reasons why there should be: trans* children exist. We don’t just grow from mushrooms at 16+.

There’s a large trans* population. There have always been trans* people. There will always be trans* people. The only reason why our numbers seem small is because of cisheteronormativity. Eliminate that and we’ll outnumber you for damn sure. Anyway, based on your argument, all characters should be people of color because people of color far outnumber white people.

I don’t think you know how programming works to say that’s easy. Not to say it can’t happen, I’m just saying programming is just a pain in the ass.

To continue, I find the whole gender neutral pronouns to be silly as shit. You’re nevertheless a he or she regardless. That’s my opinion, which of course goes against a lot of Tumblr users. So I’m expecting flak.

I don’t see how I’m off the mark, please tell me why instead of saying so. Because you have your birth gender(or sex, I always forget which one is for what), then you can dress up as whatever. It’s your character, you do what you want with it. You can imagine whatever, there’s few stated facts about your character to have any wiggle room you want really.

There’s tons of reasons. One of the large ones is: Tumblr is one of the few places that has such giant responses to “trans everything in all my games” etc. etc. The real world doesn’t have such requests, and most people do not care because they see no problem, since there’s male and female choices. Sure, trans kids exist, but not much do, and transkids are certainly not common in the public eye.

I never said there wasn’t a trans population. They exist, certainly, hence why I mentioned them.

No, the numbers are small, or at least small in comparison. And good god no, there’s not more trans people than people that idenfity with their gender. That’s just insane to suggest that.

I haven’t mentioned race in my argument, hell I haven’t in factored that in. Again, Pokemon is a kids game and I always thought of the characters to be as basic as possible. They are already established characters, to which you can manipulate some of their characteristics.

If Pokemon had a character creator, I certainly think you should be able to be black if you want to.

Come back when you know what gender and sex is and why you’re so wrong I’m laughing at you.

P.S. Sex is a social designation. There’s no such thing as “biological male and female”. It’s arbitrary.

In reality it’s kind of futile to ask for an other option. While it’d be hella rad, us non-binary folk likely make up 1% or less of the Pokemon fanbase; the company won’t cater to us, whether it’s easy or difficult. Chances are the heads of the company aren’t aware that there exists and “other” gender.

It’s unrealistic to expect game companies to suddenly “understand” all this gender stuff and why it’s important for them to make the change. :/

Maybe I’m too jaded from how society treat non-binaries and how few of us there are, but I’ve long since given up on getting my other option.

She does tens to godplay quite a bit.

a female character being both feminine and powerful is always a bad thing to people for some reason :\

My big thing is that I feel like she doesn’t have “real” flaws. If anything, her flaws entail being too nice and naive, an all too common trait among Mary Sue-like characters and females in general to portray the innocent female trope.

Her only other major flaw would be that she is constantly doubting the person who is supposedly her boyfriend. You’d think that she would be able to tell if it wasn’t Mike. Canonically, they’ve been together a year. Her not seeing the warning signs is a jab towards her, making her seem ditsy and almost unintelligent.

She has a lot of potential in her character, though I feel as though the way they revolve her character around Mike really stunts her growth and likability as a character. I don’t like her character in the context of her relationship with Mike, though I feel like I could warm up to her character were it given proper development of her own merit.
