YES!

Alright listen up here punks cause Mike’s gonna take you on a guide to ORAS Contests.
- GET THOSE POKE BLOCKS WORKIN’ N TWERKIN’

Pokeblocks are created using berries and these give great boost in preparing Pokemon for contests. Basically without pokeblocks you are doomed. The good thing about this generation with contests you can max out EVERYTHING!! So you can always just pick one pokemon like Cosplay Pikachu and max out all its Cuteness/Cleverness/etc. with these. Or you can be like me and have 1 separate pokemon for each contest.
- Blue - Beauty
- Red - Cool
- Green - Clever
- Pink - Cute
- Yellow - Tough
Max em out for whichever contest you wanna go for and you got part 1 done.
Head to Route 123 and go to the berry field to harvest them. There’s some berries which are specific on raising a specific type of contest stat.
Beauty - Bluk Berry , Cornn Berry , Belue Berry , Pamtre Berry
Cool - Razz Berry
Clever - Wepear Berry , Rabuta Berry , Watmel Berry , Durin Berry
Cute - Nanab Berry , Magost Berry , Spelon Berry
Tough - Pinap Berry , Nomel Berry
You get a lot of these from fans after you start winning your contests!

MAXING OUT THE CATEGORY OF CONTEST IS IMPORTANT TO PERFORM WELL IN THE INTRODUCTION ROUND! YOU’LL NEED THE BONUS POINTS AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE!

A Cosplay Pikachu with maxed out Cute!
- Route 111, Route 112, Route 120 ,Route 114, Route 117, Route 123 , Route 115, and Sootopolis City are where you can find these berries.
You can also pick up scarves when you max out the category of a pokemon in Slateport city which make the pokemon appeal more in these Introductory rounds. The Fan club old man will give you a scarf! Red, Blue, Pink, Yellow or Green according to the Contest Category!
SO WE MADE OUR POKEBLOCKS YEAH!
OUR POKEMON IS READY TO SHINE IN ROUND 1!

Here is where it can get tricky. Up until Super rank you’ll be okay with just your Poke block appeal boost. Once you hit Hyper-Rank and Master-Rank you need to have a strategy.
Strategy you say? But I can easily beat it with a maxed out appeal in the first round!
No you can’t. Not always.
An ideal moveset would be 3 moves for the type of contest you participate in and one extra to mess with the star count. Try not to pick moves that would make you lose a heart because that’ll back fire. For example don’t use a Clever move in Cool because you’ll get booed but if I use a Clever move in Cute I’m okay.
If you don’t wanna be risky, go with the Standard 4 move same type of Contest.
- You’ll need a Jamming Move to stop opponent Pokes from getting too far ahead
- You’ll need a Startling move or a move that gets you more hearts when you go first.
- You’ll also need a Basic move that gets you about 4 stars or a move that will get you more hearts if the previous pokemon used the same category move! E.G. If my Lilligant uses Dream Eater before a Sharpedo that used Assurance then I get more hearts!
- Your last move can vary, It can be a combo move or a different category of contest move to mess with the Spectacular Meter for the Spectacular skill

PERFORM YOUR SPECTACULAR SKILL AS MUCH AS YOU CAN, WITH MEGAS IT’S MUCH BETTER AS THEY MEGA EVOLVE WHEN THE SPECTACULAR METER FILLS!

This’ll make the audience go wow!!!
A few types of moves to get you started.
- Basic Move - No secondary effect whatsoever, A good move that appeals and gets you hearts. Can be a combo move or just a basic one.
- Startling Move - Makes other pokemon nervous! Very Important in messing up other pokemon from filling up the Spectacular meter before you! It can also prevent the first pokemon to going even more ahead than you and give you time to catch up.
- Pumped up Move - The more pumped up you are the less likely you are to be nervous or startled by other pokemon in contests. You also get an extra heart
- Jamming Move - Can be a wide or only one pokemon Jamming effect. IMPORTANT IN STOPPING OTHER POKEMON FROM GETTING TOO FAR AHEAD!
- Same Type Move - These help you get a lot of hearts. You can always look at the other pokemon’s movesets and predict the one before you what they’re gonna do so you can make sure you use this. You get more hearts if a pokemon used a Cute move before you used a Cute move.
- Protecting Moves - Shield you from jamming and negating moves that affect pumped up conditions!

(These are personal terms to make things easier.)
I cannot stress how important these are. Combo moves are a key to victory. You use two rounds to perform a combo move but I kid you not it’s extremely important to win.
Before I post a list of combo moves, I wanna stress the Spectacular Meter.
This when filled up allows you to perform your Pokemon’s skill which will get you a huge amount of hearts. Try to out predict other contestants to make YOUR Pokemon shine first!
