PERSONA DANCING ALL OVER MY SOUL
"I generally just tumble around."

There’s a symphony inside of me, and it’s made to play a duet.

— things I think early in the morning

This is so new to me-
The laughing is the most wonderful sound,
Refreshing as the sea breeze at dusk.
The minutes fly by as if there are never enough
Yet no time is wasted, each second a treasure trove.
Every sigh and murmur is the ebb and flow of the tide,
And when tidal waves burst forth I’m swept away
Into whirlpools that dizzy my brain in wonderful ways,
My tongue is tied and my heart is pounding.
I could drown at any minute and it’s terrifying,
Yet I don’t resist, I let the current carry me through,
To new places, full of life I’d never seen before.
Even when I simply float along, no agenda to mind,
It is fulfilling, never a day poorly spent.
The waves that envelop me need only their presence
To bring the paradoxical peaceful excitement.
No matter where I’m taken, it’s new, it’s beautiful.
I always thought I knew quite a lot, and in some ways I do,
But as it turns out, I knew nothing about the depths,
About the endless expanse of intense blue wakes.
I don’t think I’ll ever fully know, ever cease to find newness
With all there is to find and see, I’ll never stop learning,
Forever an explorer marvelling at each treasure uncovered,
That’s love, is it not?

Glasses aren’t what make me see.

In my college elective, “Words, Voice, Movement”, we were asked to write a ‘six word memoir’ last week. I was moved by a lot of the things I heard, and we broke off into small groups to share in particular. I asked my group if I could share theirs on my blog, and they all gave me permission to share theirs, citing their first name for credit. I’ll be posting them rapid fire since it’s the afternoon and more people are online right now, and I encourage you to enjoy them and pass them on, because I think they’re really great. A lot of these people were nursing students who had almost no other options for electives, yet they’re really giving their best and making themselves vulnerable in this class- it’s awesome. OvO

How Do You Describe the Person You Hate?

How do you describe the person you hate?

Do your eyes narrow?
Do your brows furrow?

How do you begin to express such distaste?

Do your teeth gnash?
Do your lips curl?

How do you describe someone so loathsome?

Does your tone change?
Do your fists clench?

How do you find the words to attach to someone that brings about such awful wrath within you?

Do you spit words out like venom?
Do you lace your talk with sharp curses?

How do I describe the person I hate?

My eyes darken.
My brows droop.

How do I begin to express such distaste?

My teeth clench.
My lips are bitten raw.

How do I describe someone so loathsome?
My tone grieves.
My fists fall numb.

How do I find the words to attach to someone that brings about such awful wrath within me?
I murmur my words with despair.
I lace my talk with forlorn criticisms.

Now that you know, don’t you understand why?
Why I don’t like to talk about myself.

–Wishing Stars–

empty skies full of shooting stars

wishless granters from way afar

I will leave my window ajar

to plead my case, although bizarre

however rare I want one thing

please say it’s something you can bring

it’s lighter than a mere shoe string

harder to find than angel wings

safety, peace, joy, and happiness

divine relief from my distress

not from a pill; that’s not progress

but true freedom from my life’s mess

–Crush–

juvenile affections

are passive afflictions

that take no direction

but stew as infections

Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream only by night.

–Edgar Allen Poe

My dad shared this with me when I was a freshman and told me it reminded him of me. I’ll never forget this quote.

This video gives me the chills. I just can’t even, you guys.
