A Pokemon that is shinylocked is unable to be legitimately obtained shiny in the game(s) they are listed under. The game is programmed so that they will never appear as shiny. This practice started in Pokemon Black and White and has continued up to the most recent games (Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon).
A Pokemon being shinylocked in one game does not mean it will be shinylocked in all subsequent games.
The following Pokemon have been shinylocked in all games they appear in and have not ever had their shiny form distributed via an event*: Victini, Keldeo, Meloetta, Zygarde, Hoopa, Volcanion, Tapu Lele, Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, Cosmog, Cosmoem, Lunala, Solgaleo, Necrozma, Magearna, Marshadow, Zeraora
*The listed Pokemon have not had their shiny forms available via any event prior to February 12th, 2018 (the day this list was made); it is possible that they will have their shiny variants distributed in a future event.

Shiny hunting for an Eevee because I need the illusion of productivity…
So far I’ve gotten a shiny Riolu, Bounsweet, Murkrow, and Cutiefly in Pokemon Sun. Filling the Pokedex was a pain, but doable since it’s only 301 ‘mons.

Currently chain fishing– I’m not looking for anything in particular, just looking for whatever shiny I can get. I got a Gorebyss last night in under 50 tries!
At some point soon I’ll be posting a list of the Pokemon I still need registered in my Dex. I’ve got almost 600 of them, so I’ll make that post when I’m getting closer and hunting down the last few.

Currently shiny hunting for a Petilil. I got my Spheal in less than thirty encounters, but it’s been about an hour and a half- I suppose lightning doesn’t strike twice. Oh well, I’ll just keep hunting. ouo
