Oh wow did you guys see the finale? I can’t believe Fortuitous Flair won!

chref:

guys please remember to be polite in those tdas-critique emails

Yes yes this is of much importance.

If you want your voice to be taken seriously, please be respectful.

So this is the email I sent to FreshTV:

Dear FreshTV,

My name is Jack and I’ve been a huge fan of the show since it first aired. However, I just watched the finale of All Stars, and I’m sure you’re aware of the uproar among fans, but I have something very specific to bring to your attention.
The way Mike’s MPD/DID was portrayed throughout the season was deplorable at best; mental illness does NOT come with a reset button. There is no quick fix. It’s dangerous to portray it that way, as it adds to the stigma that people need to just “get over” their mental disorders. It is especially harmful that this message is being projected to children and preteens, many of whom may suffer from such disorders.
I myself suffer from anxiety and OCD. It’s a crippling condition that is nothing to take lightly. The resolution to Mike’s MPD was an echo of what I and many others hear on a daily basis; that if we just try hard enough, we can overcome our disorders and illnesses. It’s about as useful as telling someone with a broken leg to walk it off.
I hope you understand why this was incredibly offensive to many people. Mike was once my favorite character because I could relate to his struggles, but myself and many other fans of the show are left with a bitter taste in our mouth after this awful portrayal of mental illness.
I ask that you give a public apology to the fans, and recognize the severity of the portrayal of Mike’s MPD/DID.
With Hope,
Jack

The only way I can think to salvage this shitfest is the alternate ending where Zoey wins:

-Mike and the alters defeat Mal and suppress him with them going away. Mal isn’t destroyed forever because that’s not how it works, but at least Mal is locked away again.

-Mike helps Zoey win because he knows he should not win on account of Mal doing all the work and it not being of Mike’s own merit.

-But actually Alejandro and Heather steal the million and ollie outie before the island sinks.

-And it ends, showing the contestants from the balloons on Pahkitew Island, which is how Chris finds the location for the next season.

If you hate Mike’s character because of how the show treated his MPD/DID, I don’t blame you. That shit is offensive.

I still like him as a character, but I can’t defend this finale. I can’t do it, man.

So go on with your Mike hate (just tag it as Mike hate please or anti Mike for people who still like Mike and want to blacklist the hate).

I can’t defend him.

I still love Mike, but damn I can’t get over how awful that was.

commandhohohozoey:

STOP FUCKING BITCHING ABOUT MIKE’S PERSONALITIES BEING GONE

SO NOW YOU’RE GONNA STOP LIKING MIKE BECAUSE OF THAT

YOU’RE SAYING YOU ONLY LIKED HIM BECAUSE OF HIS FUCKING DISORDER?

YOU DON’T LIKE SOMEBODY BECAUSE OF THEIR DISORDER

WHO THE FUCK DOES THAT

EVEN IF IT IS A FICTIONAL CHARACTER, WHAT THE HELL

no i like mike still
im just sad right now
Ill still love mike with all my heart
but i loved the alters as people too

Mike is still my favorite character. I still love him to death.

But just because I love a character doesn’t mean I can’t see the flaws in their development.

Like holy shit the way they handled his MPD/DID was DISGUSTING. It was a hugeass middle finger to everyone with mental disorders and that is not okay. I understand 100% that people are offended by his character. It’s UNDERSTANDABLE IF THEY STOP LIKING HIM BECAUSE HIS CHARACTER WAS USED TO TRIVIALIZE PEOPLE WITH MENTAL ILLNESS.

Also, his alters (a.k.a Svetlana and Manitoba) were great characters (especially Svetlana jfc). It’s just so devastating that they’re just fucking gone, like poof Mike is all better bye everyone.

Fuck that noise.

Good Things about the Finale:

-Zoke kiss!

-Canon AleHeather!

-Zoey/Chef friendship?

-“And this is milk.”

-Mal died HAHA SEE YA LATER FUCKER

-Gwen and Cameron being bros

-FRACKING MACHINE

-Mal on a pogo stick jfc

-Mike and his alters teaming up to get into the tower and up the staircase before everything turned to shit.

-Vito holding Chester

——

Bad Things about the Finale:

-THAT IS NOT HOW MPD/DID WORKS FUCK YOU FUCK EVERYONE TOTAL DRAMA YOU LITTLE SHIT I CANNOT EXPRESS HOW MAD I AM ABOUT THAT. MIKE IS MY FAVORITE CHARACTER BUT YOU HAD TO INDISPUTABLY MAKE HIM OFFENSIVE AS FUCK.

-ALL THE ALTERS ARE MAGICALLY GONE? WHAT IS THIS SHIT I’M CRYING FUCK EVERYTHING.

-I CANNOT GET OVER THE RESET BUTTON BULLSHIT FUCK EVERYTHING.

-No Season 6 Preview?

-Seriously fuck everything. Ever fiber of my being still likes Mike, but they literally ruined him and gave a big middle finger to people with MPD/DID or any other mental illness, for that matter. Fuck that noise.

-SVETLANA NO MY BBU

-Oh my God are the rest of the cast okay? Like shit dude they floated off into the atmosphere. What the fuck.

OH MY GOD

OH MY FUCKING GOD

OH MY TITS

OH MYLANTA

*sings*

All I want for Christmas is a list of all the TD characters’ canon full names, immediate family members, races, and birthdays on my desk by Monday.

*makes people cry with my Mike-related headcanons*

Happy Thanksgiving everyone! OuO

Headcanon:

Mike stopped believing in Santa at age 8.

When Mike was 7, all he asked for was to be a normal boy; for his personalities to go away.

He got a Nerf gun from Santa.

Headcanon:

Mal was created in the thick of Mike’s depression (circa age 13-14). However, these feelings of hatred, sadness, and desperation weren’t strong enough to bring Mal into control until the night Mike tried to commit suicide.

The bullying became too much for Mike. Living with these voices in his head, constantly filling his brain. It was far too much. He was diagnosed with ADD because he could never focus on anything. His social anxiety crippled him; the thought of being triggered in public and having one of his alters come out made him paralyzed with fear. In the worst of it, he would only go to school and home. He would not leave the house on weekends. He would not take the bus to school, lest he be a sitting target for eyes and minds that wouldn’t understand- that couldn’t understand. He was either watched with scrutinizing eyes like a sideshow attraction, feared by those that assumed he was fit for a mental hospital, or beaten down with words sharp as blades by the ones who used his imperfections and insecurities like a tire pump to inflate their own egos.

On that night, he resolved to end it. He could only silence the others by silencing himself. Mike went to his room, fully equipped. A kitchen knife, a full bottle of his anxiety medication, and a note for his family to find. The others idly sat by, chattering away, unaware of their host’s intentions. Mike downed half of the bottle of pills, not even sure of what the effects would have on his body. The knife tore through him, and with trembling hands he marked himself with all the words they called him. “Freak”, “Psycho”, “Spaz”… each word etched a little deeper, running all down his arm. Soon, he felt his eyes drooping. The blood loss and anxiety meds were sedating him. He could feel everything slipping away. Now, he would slip into unconsciousness. The only question now is if he would wake up.

Although he survived the attempt, a new presence opened Mike’s eyes in the stiff hospital bed.
