The camera focused on a young man sitting upright in a hospital bed. He was a scrawny fellow, but he had a presence of strength to him; not a strength of physical measures, mind you, but of heart. He had thick bandages wrapped around his right shoulder, and although they were tinted red with blood, the man showed no pain in his chocolate brown eyes.
“It’s funny,” he whispered very softly, “But I couldn’t be happier right now.”
He gave a faint chuckle eyes tearing up as the hospital blankets moved with the rise and fall of his chest. “I fought as hard as I could, but in the end, I wasn’t the one who was meant to win.”
The man spoke with a certain calmness, eyes half-closed. He had stitches on his left cheek, and was bandaged up in many places besides his shoulder, the most obvious of his wounds.
“He truly deserved to win. Much more than myself, really.” the young man said, closing his eyes fully now as he spoke. “He played an honest game the whole way through; no cheating, no lying, no backstabbing. And best of all, everyone I wanted to help was given what they need. What more could I want?” he opened his eyes slightly, and tears of joy streamed down his face.
“It looks like we’ll be living in the city as soon as we all heal up. It’s going to be interesting, though I won’t be living on my own.” the young man said with a laugh, and he grinned from ear to ear.
“I asked Monica if she would move into an apartment with me, and lo and behold, she said yes. I may only be seventeen, but here I am, about to move in with my girlfriend after I heal from these silly battle wounds.” he said, then laughed even harder. “I never thought I’d say something like that.” he admitted. “Is this what growing up is like?” he mused, looking to the side.
The young man wiped his tears weakly, still quite frail from the injuries he sustained, before glancing back at the camera.
“My name is Jack Christopher Hanson. I am the runner-up of Total Drama. I came into this competition looking for a way out of my debt, but I found something else.” Jack beamed with joy, full of life despite whatever state his body was in. "I found something good in this world; something great, something brilliant, something radiant. And it’s worth fighting for.“
I just found this for the first time in a year and I FORGOT ABOUT THE EMOTIONS OH MY LORDY LORDY.
