TW: Transphobia

Just wanted to send out a warning to all lovelies- today’s episode of Leisure Suit Larry MCL (Part 23) has a drawn out and disgusting transphobic “”joke”” that can be triggering. Arin goes out of his way to denounce it and call it out as gross and tasteless, which is reassuring, but it’s still painful to watch the scene.

//to the tune of Avril Lavigne’s ‘Girlfriend’//

♫ ♫ ♫ Hey hey, you you, I don’t like your cisnormativity.

No way, no way, I think you need to reconcile your ignorance and blind hate.

Hey hey, you you, I could help you better acknowledge and understand the inherently queerphobic nature of society provided you generally want to understand and are willing to recognize your transphobic behaviors and proceed to change them. ♫ ♫ ♫

current hobby: becoming progressively more petty as my mom continues to misgender me and not care

  • I asked her if I looked handsome and she paused and said “you’re cute”. I asked again, and the responses? “adorable” “beautiful” “good-looking” As soon as we get down to the car I look at dad and ask “am I handsome?” and he immediately says “yes you look handsome” while mom just stands there.
  • I made like forty 80s-text callout images about respecting pronouns and demolishing transphobia that are vague enough to not be blatantly about her but specific enough that she’ll see them and know. Every day I will post 2 or 3 of those images on Facebook for everyone to see. If she confronts me about it, I’ll start tagging her on every image.
  • Dad does his best to use “he” pronouns (and gets it right like half the time), and every time he does it when mom is around I can just feel her slightest hint of exasperation.
  • At dinner when grandma and grandpa were apologizing for messing up my pronouns (right after mom was visibly annoyed and told me to stop playing games when I corrected her), I proceeded to loudly express how much it means to me that they at least try and feel remorse when they get it wrong, and that makes me feel so safe and loved. And then I glanced at mom, back to them, and kept talking.

@people outside the LGBT+ community

In regards to my previous post about the general public being unsafe for LGBT+ folk, here’s some receipts that I cross-referenced with different sites to affirm credibility.

And here’s something important to consider: YOU contribute to this even if you’re not stabbing and shooting LGBT+ people. YOU contribute to this every time you ignore someone’s preferred name and pronouns, every time you complain about how LGBT+ people are so overly sensitive and need to “not make everything about their sexual orientation”, every time you roll your eyes about pride parades or protests for more LGBT+ rights. YOUR complacency contributes to all of the fatalities and hate crimes detailed below. YOUR complacency allows this violence to continue. YOUR complacency makes the world an unsafe space for LGBT+ people to simply exist.

This article is the basis, describing a lot of the history and current events of LGBT+ hate crimes. If you only read one of these resources, let it be this one.
https://www.nytimes.com/…/…/us/hate-crimes-against-lgbt.html

And here is the FBI’s hate crime statistics for 2015. Hate crimes against LGBT+ folk comprise about 20% of all hate crimes from 2015. I checked 2014 out of curiosity, and it was about the same, give or take a percent.
https://www.fbi.gov/…/s…/2015-hate-crime-statistics-released

This is a detailed breakdown of the Orlando shooting that occurred last June- the largest mass shooting in American history that took the lives of over 50 people.

It’s quite lengthy, but this document details several case studies and narratives of transgender people who were murdered in acts of hate in recent years. The information presented includes up to 2015 accounts.

And, finally, as a little visual tidbit, this source is a map illustrating which states have laws against hate crimes, which states have laws against hate crimes that include sexual orientation, and states that have laws against hate crimes that include sexual orientation AND gender identity.

Trans beauty queen stripped of her crown for wearing boxer briefs

Jai Dará Latto, the winner of the Miss Transgender UK pageant, lost her crown earlier this month when the pageant’s organizer saw footage of Latto in an upcoming BBC documentary wearing boxer briefs while lounging around the house. The organizer, Rachael Bailey, stripped Latto of her title, claiming she’s not a “full-time woman.” But wait, Bailey’s transphobic comments about Latto got even worse.

what the fuck

I don’t like how you hate.

i will always roll my eyes when i see the words “pregnant person” instead
of “pregnant woman.”

because let’s be real, it’s not because we’re “including” non-women identified females.

it’s because some “women” (males) are upset that they aren’t female and the word “women” always has to cater to them.

no, actually, it’s because we trans men (as well as non-binary people) exist and can become pregnant, so please take your transmisogyny and erasure elsewhere. thanks for proving you don’t care about trans men either like you twerfs always like to pretend and showing everyone that’s just a smoke screen to cover how much you hate trans women.

Pro-Tip: Trans/NB people that are able to get pregnant aren’t any less trans/NB for choosing to get pregnant. Not all women are able to give birth ((whether they’re trans or not)), and not all people who are able to give birth are women.

Another Pro-Tip: For the low, low price of $0.00 you can choose not to be a transphobic asshole, OP! 8D

Gender has absolutely nothing to do with chromosomes or anatomy. Not even anatomy is a binary- don’t erase intersex people in your attempts to put down people under the transgender umbrella. Someone’s anatomy is absolutely not your business- they will tell you their gender and pronouns, and it takes pretty much no effort to respect that and not be literal trash.

Possible TW for KKG HuniePop Episode 52

I just started watching episode 52 of HuniePop on KittyKatGaming- I don’t know about the episode content, but I wanted to make a note to other lovelies about it. The title is transmisogynistic, and it certainly caught me off guard.

“ ♡Hunie POP♡ Part 52 DOES SHE HAVE A PENIS?!!!► Kitty Kat Gaming! “

I’ll be watching with caution and I’ll make a post if there’s anything that could trigger the lovely trans viewers!

I don’t care if I lose a thousand followers overnight, but if you think “tranny” or “shemale” are remotely acceptable ways to refer to a transgender person, please unfollow me.

Nice try, buddy. Come back when you’ve educated yourself. <3

isn’t it funny how you can say “pizza is important” or “friends are important” and nobody has any beef with that but as soon as you say “trans women are important” people are so fucking desperate to yell “dont you mean EVERYBODY is important????”

*cis voice* i think u are generalizing here

TW: Self-Harm Mention

Earlier I mentioned how English class was awful today; allow me to elaborate.

So, it’s getting close to the end of class, so the teacher puts on the movie version of the book we’re reading, which is normally hella cool.

Except, of course, when the movie has a graphic self-harm scene with no warning I mean we already all knew the protagonist is suicidal but honestly none of us were expecting a gratuitous scene where he picks up a shard of glass and slices his arm open jfc Hamlet and at least two people in the class are in remission/recovery from cutting.

So that was fun, and by fun I mean extremely triggering and painful and brought on a splitting tension headache.

And then, when I wanted to check on my friend who I know was badly affected by seeing the scene, I asked the teacher if I could go check on them because I was worried ((they stormed out of the room)). Instead of showing any semblance of concern when I mentioned they may not be okay, the teacher began to interrogate me as to why I was referring to them with “them” pronouns ((which are their preferred pronouns btw)). I was still kind of shaken and didn’t want to explain this so without thinking I told her that was what they preferred to be called by and I don’t even remember most of what was said but me and my English teacher got into a very brief, hushed banter about “they/them/their” being strictly plural and me telling her that for some people singular is used as they and then she gave me the world’s snarkiest eye roll and at that point I was so far gone I grabbed my backpack and ollied on outie.

English was a wild ride, and not in any sort of good way.
